In August 2016 the Cairngorms Trust approved funding for the following projects under the LEADER 2014-20 programme:
Kingussie 2017 - a total of £106,913.20 for major improvements to the facilities at Kingussie Shinty Club. Facilities at the pitch will be upgraded to the standard expected of a 21st century modern day sports club and, to a high enough standard that in the future Kingussie could apply to host major occasions such as National Shinty Finals and International matches.
Plantlife - a total of £135,189.53 for the recruitment of a project officer to deliver a 3 year project which aims to work across the Cairngorms National Park empowering and enabling local land managers and communities to take action for arctic alpine and Caledonian pinewood plants.
Braemar Mountain Sports Ltd - up to £41,873.44 for the provision of discreet facilities to allow those with a disability to enjoy a holiday in Braemar.
Wigwam Holidays Glenlivet/Tomintoul Development - a total of £100,000 in connection with the building of 24 self-catering wooden camping cabins in a woodland setting in Tomintoul.
Braemar Play Park - a total of £38,426.53 to upgrade and expand the play park facilties in Braemar to offer a wider range of equipment which is fully inclusive across all abilities, essential to improving the education and wellbeing and development of the children.
Community Orienteering and Protection of the Environment (COPE) - a total of £20,084, in connection with opportunities for participation in orienteering in Upper Deeside and the Cairngorms National Park by complementing 3 major orienteering events in Upper Deeside in 2017/2018.
