The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize

The hk prize is one of the world’s most coveted high school contests, awarding monetary prizes as well as the opportunity to conduct research at Hong Kong’s premiere facilities. The competition encourages students to develop their talents and cultivate a spirit of self-challenge while also expanding their cultural awareness of Hong Kong.

The winners of this year’s hk prize will have the chance to spend six months in Hong Kong doing research on their field of study. This is a fantastic opportunity for both international and domestic students to immerse themselves in Hong Kong’s culture while furthering their academic and career goals. In addition to this, the winners will receive a full scholarship that covers airfare and housing.

This year’s hk prize asked artists to explore the themes of diversity and equity from both local and global perspectives. The resulting works revealed that the issue is far more complex than the sweeping generalizations that can be made from the media or individual incidents. In fact, the winning works demonstrated that it is essential to consider the many dimensions of this issue in order to make informed decisions about how best to address it.

BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE is a non-governmental merit-based scientific research award sponsored by the Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, and aimed at encouraging young scientists to pursue careers in science, as well as to recognize outstanding scientific researchers and their innovations that have significant impact on society. It is open to all fields of scientific innovation, including but not limited to Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Life and Health, New Materials and New Energy, Advanced Manufacturing, and FinTech. Up to five persons or teams are awarded per category.

Unlike most other science awards, the hk prize is based on an impartial selection process without sponsorship or committee influence. This ensures that the winners are chosen for their real-world applications and societal benefits. This is reflected in the design of the award logo, which juxtaposes two precious elements – a pearl and a pierced jade amulet. This symbolizes the ideals of a virtuous circle in which science can create economic and social value.

For those interested in participating, the application period opens on March 1. Applicants can visit the World of Winners splash page to find out more about the contest. The prize is open to residents of Southeast Asia, mainland China, and other countries around the world. The winners will be announced in three waves – the first to be selected are Southeast Asian residents, followed by mainland Chinese, and then international winners.
